New Zealand Clothing

The carvings based on Maori designs in particular have special significance. The pre-European Maori had no written language so tribal history and the stories of the gods were kept using many forms of fine arts and crafts ranging from basket and cloth weaving to complex wood, bone, shell and jade carving. These artifacts were then handed down through generations of tribal elders and became sacred objects or treasures “Taonga”, telling the history of a tribe and taking on the spirits of past great leaders and warriors who had worn them.

Sheep Skin Clothing and Footwear

Twelve thousand years ago the Nomadic tribesmen of snow-swept Siberia knew the unique properties of sheepskin. Since the1850’s scientific studies have helped us to understand wool’s natural qualities.
Wool consists of millions of tiny fibres which trap air, resulting in a natural insulation. Dry wool fibres also absorb moisture giving off heat in return.
Wool has the ability to absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture. One gram of dry wool releases 27 calories of heat when saturated with water. When dry water is attracted to sites within its multi-layered and internal structure, keeping you dry and releasing heat.
Soft, warm and dry, sheepskin has consistently stood the test of time, naturally.

At Sea Breeze we stock a wide range of Sheep Skin products including the Canterbury leather range of Casey, Brooke and Chris Clogg.
